This website is distinctly Messianic, comprising the Abrahamic expression of faith, which is to the Jew and the Gentile with a Hebraic character. We affirm the fullness of absolute truth contained in the Bible, embracing the cross and identifying with the convocations of the Lord as seen in the Feasts, the Sabbath and Passover. We reject the legalism of many in the Messianic movement. We reject the Babylonian Pagan traditions of the church. We consider all people Jews and Gentiles and those in all churches who are truly born of the Spirit of the living God to be one family. We reject institutional organised denominationalism (division). We foresee a great falling away of much of the church in these days, while at the same time a great restoration of part of the church. We affirm and identify with God's plan and call to the Jewish people in these days and will support and stand with them as future brothers and sisters. We stand happily with pre / mid/ and post tribbers. Our slant is cautiously pre-trib, but hey, post tribber...you're still family! Today much error has been added to Christendom and much truth has been removed. The Prophetic Scroll's aim is to deal with these issues and assist you on your road to glory.
I was saved in 1976 and became extremely interested in Bible prophecy, being an ex war-correspondent and photographer. My calling and aim is to share the dramatic and all-important issues of prophecy relating to our day. This is a calling to unfold and share the wisdom of God as contained in His word. There is also much teaching in these pages for your heart. It’s not all prophecy! Please study these things further yourself and understand that the format is non-exhaustive. Please search the scriptures to “see if these be true.” This is a "watchman" and Bible prophecy teaching website.

Shabbat (Sabbath) begins on Fridays at 6pm and ends on Saturdays at 6pm. The purpose is to help the church and Israel become reconciled in Messiah and to identify the rift, and the needed restoration. There is much in the church that needs to change before it can be fully reconciled with the Jew. Likewise, changes in Jewish thinking are also needed.
Edition 257. April 29th 2015
Do not underestimate the gravity and importance of this edition!
If Obama warns on something, you can safely laugh it off. If the God of the universe warns you on something you are an idiot if you laugh it off.
Today God is warning the Church. His standards and requirements have not changed. It is the deviant church that has changed and is bringing judgement upon itself.
In many cases the judgment has already fallen. The Spirit of the living God has moved out and an illegitimate spirit has moved in. These churches are blind to this. They haven’t even noticed that they’re serving the god of the world.
Unfortunately most people know nothing about the warnings of God, because they’ve been taught not to worry about anything severe emanating from God.
“Consider both the goodness and severity of God”, says the Bible! So what does the erring church do? It removes severity and considers only goodness! Have they got a surprise coming!
There are numerous verses of scripture revealing the horrifying end of a large part of the Church who did not heed God’s warnings.
Some of these verses are: ●“Depart from Me, I never knew you” (Matthew 7:23). ●“The love of many will grow cold” (Matthew 24:12). ●“I will spew you out of My mouth” (Revelation 3:16). ●“I will cast you into great tribulation” (Revelation 2:22). ●“I (God) will kill your children with death.”(The church of Thyatira; Revelation 2:23). ●”You also will be cut off”. (Those in Replacement Theology; Romans 11:22). ●”The five foolish virgins were locked out.” (Matthew 25:11) ●”The time will come when sound doctrine will be cast aside”. (2 Timothy 4:3) ●”In the latter times many will give heed to doctrines of demons”. (1Timothy 4:1.)
The question is why is the judgement coming? What is the primary cause of the Church getting into such a mess? Is it repairable?
Of course there are many things that have led a large part of the Church astray, but there are only a handful of deeply underlying causes.
In this edition I want to centre in on the biggest underlying cause of the problems and the reason why many who believe they are fine with God, will end in hell.
►The Bible is full of warnings on this very issue and yet it is unpopular and seldom taught today.
Identifying the big issue:
The cause of the sick church is a sick heart. It is a heart full of disease, which is about to be attacked!
The heart that does not know the fear of the Lord is in a desperate situation. A healthy heart automatically keeps beating, and fresh clean blood flows from it to the whole body. If the heart has a blood clot or some disease within it, it will not work properly and the whole body will be affected.
The big ticket spiritual-health item for our hearts is the fear of the Lord.
What the fear of the Lord is not and is:
The fear of the Lord is not an attitude of respect or reverence for the Lord. The fear of the Lord is not a natural fear. It is not a demonic fear or spirit. It is not a fear taught by commandments of men.
►The Hebrew word “fear” in the verses relating to the fear of the Lord is “Yirah”: (Strong’s H3374). It means ‘fear’, ‘terror’, ‘awe’, ‘respectful.’ The Greek version of the word in the New Covenant is translated as ‘fear’, ‘dread’, and ‘terror’. (Strong’s G5401)
This is the summary of the word from all its uses: Fear, terror, awe, dread, respect. The word respect or reverence is not the meaning as many claim. That is only one of the meanings, which on its own is too weak and gives a false understanding, because it excludes the other main word-meanings.
The best definition I ever heard was from Derek Prince many years ago. He said “The fear of the Lord means to fear Him.”
The term “fear of the Lord” or “fear the Lord” occurs 110 times in the Bible and the word-meanings are consistent.
Job 28:28 “Behold the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to depart from evil is understanding.”
How do you engender the fear of the Lord?
Psalm 34:11-12 “Come you children, listen to Me and I will teach you the fear of the Lord. Who is the man who desires life?”
Psalm 25:12 “Who is the man that fears the Lord? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses. He himself will dwell in prosperity.”
You must choose it and you must want it! You must then come before our Lord in all sincerity and ask Him to do for you exactly what these verses proclaim.
Trying to teach people who don’t fear the Lord is futile, God won’t teach them – leave them to carry on in their own way. Let me inform you that the Bible speaks of few and many. Few go the right way and many go the wrong way! That principle is throughout the Bible.
As we grow in this wonderful and devastating fear, we become more usable to our Lord. In fact even our Messiah had the fear of God.
Hebrews 5:7 “In the days of His flesh Yeshua was heard because of His Godly fear.”
Psalm 2:11 “Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling.”
Acts 9:31 “The churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.”
Reasons to fear the Lord:
●Because He says so. ●Because God has devised what works best. ●Because He decides on your eternal reward and loss of reward. ●Because He has the keys of heaven and hell.
The three main institutions that God has set up for a strong nation, Church, State and Family should all be on a firm footing under God. Because the fear of the Lord and His word has been removed, like a tripod in an earthquake, its all-fall-down!
Today we are seeing a worldwide melt-down in family, church and state. To me that’s not surprising at all, because there is no fear of the Lord around anymore.
So, what can you do about it? You can embrace and cultivate the fear of Lord yourself in your own life. You are responsible for your own life.
One thing you can’t do is remove the warnings and judgements of God. You can tear those verses out of your Bible, and in fact burn your entire Bible. That will change nothing! You will still face God in judgement, like everyone will, either for reward or to be condemned to hell.
John 16:8 “When He comes He will convict the world of sin and of righteousness and of judgement...”
Fruits of the fear of the Lord:
Here are the fruits of the fear of the Lord compiled only from the verses in this edition. There are many more:
●Wisdom, ●understanding, ● forsaking evil, ●going the right way, ●dwelling in prosperity, the blessing of the Lord, ●being heard by God, ●rejoicing, ●peace, ●a clean life, ●service to the Lord, ●edification, ●comfort of the Holy Spirit, ●safety, ●hope not cut off, ●not visited with evil, ●riches, ●honour, ●health, ●strength, ●a full life, ●fountain of life, ●strong confidence, ● church multiplied.
Fruits of the fear of the Lord removed or watered down:
With the fear of the Lord removed, changed or watered down, you will not know God’s warnings! Why should you? No fear of the Lord – no fear of His warnings, right? If you fear the Lord, you will know, fear and take heed of His warnings.
This one single paragraph above is huge. It is enormous in its implications for you and the whole world!
Proverbs 1:28-30 “They will call on me but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently, but they will not find me, because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord. They would have none of my counsel and despised all my reproof.”
These verses (above and below) are amongst the most incredible, spectacular verses in the Bible! Note in the verses above that even those trying to call desperately on the Lord will be met with a deaf ear from Him and note the reason why. They tried to approach God full of self and had no fear of the Lord. They rejected His ways.
Then note in the verse below that it was God calling and trying to reach the individuals concerned and they did not answer or come to God His way. They are also rejected.
Isaiah 65:12 “I will number you for the sword, all you shall bow down to the slaughter; because when I called you did not answer; when I spoke you did not hear, but did evil before My eyes, and chose that in which I do not delight.”
Do you see the severity of disobedience to our Lord? These people were seeking God and the others were being sought by God and both were rejected because they had no fear of Him or had not forsaken their evil ways! You see, you can seek God in sincerity, full of yourself and your own ideas and you will get nowhere at all.
The consequences of going into eternity without the fear of the Lord in your life now, are far too great for me to comprehend or entertain for one second. So when I hear someone trying to water this down and change the meaning to reverence alone – I switch off!
In many respects the shocking condition of the world is the fault of the church and its loss of the fear of the Lord. As goes the spiritual, so goes the natural!
The great exchange:
If you reject or water-down the fear of the Lord, automatically, without your knowledge or consent, a new “fear” will enter and dominate your life. This is the fear of Satan or the fear of the world. Perhaps this could be better expressed in the term “approval” of men and the world.
Galatians 1:10 “Do I now persuade men or God? Or do I seek to please men? If I still pleased men, I would not be a servant of Yeshua.”
Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.”
John 12:43 “They loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.”
Proverbs 29:25 “The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord will be safe.”
The human wisdom of man is not acceptable to God until or unless it has gone through the cross of our Lord.
If you have no fear of the Lord you will be a man-, world- and devil-pleaser, full of idolatry and evil in disguise.
Success based on the fear of the Lord:
Proverbs 23:17-18 “Do not let your heart envy sinners, but in the fear of the Lord continue all day long, for surely there is a hereafter and your hope will not be cut off.”
Proverbs 19:23 “The fear of the Lord leads to life, and he who has it shall abide in satisfaction and he will not be visited with evil.”
Proverbs 22:4 “By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, honour and life.”
Proverbs 3:7-8 “Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil, it will be health to your flesh and strength to your bones.”
Psalm 19:9 “The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the judgements of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.”
Proverbs 14:26-27 “In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence...the fear of the Lord is a fountain of life.”
Please note in the verses above that the fear of the Lord has dramatic implications on every aspect of your life.
The tragedy of tragedies is that many will go full of self-confidence and self-assurance to meet our Lord in judgement. They will be totally unprepared.
If you have no fear of the Lord you can fearlessly change the Bible and ignore doctrines that you don’t like. Many ministers have no fear of the Lord and they use manipulation and other worldly tools of the trade to influence people.
If you have no fear of the Lord you don’t need to get rid of sin. In fact your idea of what sin is will be clouded.
It is not okay to mix all the garbage of the world with your Christianity.
1 Corinthians 10:21 “You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons...”
Leviticus 20:23 “You shall not walk in the statutes of the nations which I am casing out before you; for they commit all these things and therefore I abhor them.”
Ezekiel 20:18-19 “I said to their children in the wilderness; ‘Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, nor observe their judgments, nor defile yourself with their idols. I am the Lord your God, walk in My statutes, keep My judgements and do them.’”
The fear of the Lord in us produces acceptance of all that is of our Lord. It leads us to brokenness and surrender. It makes our lives an instrument of worship. It cleans us up fast. It silences all our arguments against God’s ways and word. It makes us holy and pure, usable in His hands. It gives us ears to hear Him. It leads us into doctrinal purity and unity.
Without the fear of Lord you will be unholy, full of spiritual dirt. You will be full of pride and self. You will be a walking mixture of truth and error. You will be deaf to God’s word and He will not hear you. Your spiritual life will be dry and empty.
My friends we are fast approaching the most dramatic times this world has seen. We are fast approaching that great eternal impassable gulf between heaven and hell.
Are you ready? Are you ready to meet God face to face?
1 Corinthians 14:8 “For if the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for battle?”
1 Peter 4:17 “Judgement begins in the house of God.”
It’s a good thing to remember that God’s warnings and judgement are always based on His word, His righteousness, and His holiness and not on what you or I think. They are always for our ultimate good.
How to know if the fear of the lord is not in your church:
The fear of the Lord is not in your church if the preaching and teaching is centred on the promises of God.
It is not in your church if the preaching and teaching is motivational and how you can be happy and successful in this world.
It is not in your church if the teaching and preaching does not include discipleship, brokenness, humility, repentance, eternal hell, denial of self, and hatred for the world system, identifying the demonic and victory over evil spirits.
It is obviously not in your church if there is little or no preaching and teaching on the cross of Calvary and how to take up your own cross daily.
It is not in your church if your church is not on a collision course with homosexuality, abortion and the values emanating from the modern news-media and entertainment world.
Today, people call us bigots or living in the past, or many such things, because we don’t tolerate the values of the world. “Don’t you know about the human rights of the homosexual or the slanderer, or the foul mouths they say”?
You see, it’s not about human rights. They hate the fact that we are not like them! They want to change us and bring us down into their world!
May I share with you some personal testimony on this subject? I was born again in 1976 and battled with the world initially. A group of friends and I, got together in 1980 and decided to be radical for our Lord. We set ourselves apart to fast and pray until our “determination lists” were done or at least on the road.
This began a massive lifestyle change for me and an extreme, radical determination to do whatever our Lord wanted. My main driving force was a passionate desire to know my Lord more and more so that I could make Him known.
I embraced and applied the message of brokenness and surrender, and sought the fear of the Lord with an ongoing passion. I embraced the cross, and took up my own cross by denying almost everything that my life’s course has been going along in previous years. I drew up a denial-of-self list containing many things to deny and get rid of. Many of these items were not sins or sinful at all.
The funny thing is that this time of casting myself down like a worm was the most wonderful time ever (and still is.)
I discovered quickly that there was a glorious exchange that takes place. “I must decrease and He will increase” is the word!
I discovered the power of the great holy contradiction that dying produced a fantastic, wonderful life in the Spirit, and have never looked back.
I haven’t fully arrived yet. I will when I arrive! But there are so many amazing glorious things that I’ve encountered that you would not believe me if I told you half of them. They all came from the power of the cross, its application, the fear of the Lord, brokenness, surrender, death to self and the like. I have received very little of value in my life from positive confession, naming and claiming and the regular prosperity / faith gospel. Obviously I believe the Bible – all of it, including all the prosperity verses, but I’ve learnt over time that these are not for a glorified, me, myself, life in this world.
Our Lord is warning the world and the church now, that He is coming very soon and it will be as the Lion of the tribe of Judah for judgement. The Spirit of God brings conviction that judgement is coming. Can you see and hear it coming?
Numbers 10:9 “When you go to war in your land against your enemies, then you shall sound the alarm with the trumpets, and you will be remembered before the Lord your God...”
While the world and the majority of the church marches down the road of great error and deception you can and must choose the fear of the Lord! Your most significant spiritual growth will come in your own private life as you seek and apply these things.
The fear of the Lord is a great and powerful holy contradiction – it is the only way to stand before God in confidence! The fear of the Lord is your greatest friend.
Don’t mess around with your own fancy ideas relating to the things of God. Just believe and accept and do them as plainly revealed in the scriptures.
Nobody will ever rob me of my fear of the Lord or explain it away and water it down! It is far too important, valuable and precious.
This is one of my old style paintings. It’s a white or square-lipped rhino.
I took this picture in the Etosha Game Reserve. It is one of the biggest in the world, larger than the Kruger Park and the most spectacular in the world from my point of view.
Shalom and grow in grace!
