Hear what the Spirit says to the churches:
Hear what the Spirit says to the churches:
Proverbs 8:1 (Amp) “Does not godly wisdom cry out and understanding (of God) raise her voice?”
Are you prepared for the times that lie ahead? Is your church teaching you, and preparing you for the near future and for eternity?
A new and powerful, evil wave of deception is warming up, right now, ready to flood the world. Will you be able to stand? Will you shake, shudder and sink?
Do you have ears to hear the Spirit of God, or do you only have ears to hear the media and your church minister? Do you have ears that shut off and then shut out the garbage of the world?
The term, “Hear what the Spirit says to the churches,” is found numerous times in the Bible, and specifically in the messages to the seven churches in the Revelation.
This time in history is very specific and unique. This time outlined in the Bible has many exclusive characteristics to it.
This is the time of increasing love, joy, peace, stability, knowledge, understand and wisdom of God for some. It is also the time of increasing deception, hatred, fear, torment, war, disasters, confusion and ignorance for many. This is the time hell raises her hands to receive many at their coming. (Isaiah 14:9) It is also the time, heaven rejoices because of the all the new residents about to arrive.
The word of God comes to all believers at all times, but the Spirit of God speaks to us specifically now in and for these specific, unique times as well, but few have ears to hear!
Are you getting ready to make one step and one giant leap into eternity?
Deception, ignorance and arrogance - the deadly triplets!
Today there are many voices out there all backed by spirits competing for you – to own you! Don’t think that as a believer, you are immune from deception.
Peter heard and listened to the voice of Satan and betrayed our Lord, but repented. (Mark 8:31-33.) Judas heard the same voice of Satan that Peter did and betrayed our Lord without repentance. (Matthew 26:14)
There is one giant universal voice that we all need to silence, and that is the voice in our own heads saying that we are okay and don’t need any other voice.
Ignorance of God’s word is a most dangerous thing, but it is symptomatic of the arrogance seen in the masses. It always leads to deception, because it always originates in the voice of Satan himself. Hearing and knowing God’s voice comes from making the right choices and meeting the conditions.
The verse below speaks of the “counsels and imagination of an evil heart.” If ever there is a verses that applies to the modern mass-media, this is it. These are simply biblical terms for crowd-speak and confirmation bias. But note the result in the verse! What an incredibly succinct verse:
Jeremiah 7:23-24 “Obey My voice and I will be your God and you shall be My people, and walk in the ways that I have commanded you that it may be well with you.’ Yet they did not obey nor incline their ear, but walked in the counsels and the imagination of their evil heart, and went backwards and not forward.’”
● Are you hearing the voice of the Lord through the knowledge of God and the voice of His Spirit, or the voices of “pleasure in sin for a season”?
● Are you hearing the voices of the world saying, “follow us?” Are you following the voices of the greatest deceptions in the church?
● Are you following the voices of the YouTube liars and manipulators?
● Are you hearing the voice of money demanding “possess more and own me now?”
● Are you listening to and following the voice of the dung-head wolves in the pulpits saying, “The land belongs to the Palestinians?”
● Are you listening to the voices of rebellion to authorities as seen in the masses?
The voice of the Spirit in the seven churches:
The great plot of church history is revealed in the messages to the seven churches in the Revelation. The messages were for seven historic churches, but also speak to all true believers now as they plot the course of church history. But there is more. We must hear what the Spirit is saying to us personally and relating to our future.
The plot of the course of the church age is revealed in the names of the churches and the brief descriptions of them.
●Ephesus: Meaning = Growing cold. This church left its first love. (It represents the early church.)
●Smyrna: Meaning = Bitterness. This church was severely persecuted. (It represents persecution by the ten Roman emperors of the church.)
●Pergamum: Meaning = Thoroughly married or mixed. This church began to mix and marry paganism with truth and they needed to repent. (It represents the Constantine era.)
●Thyatira: Meaning = Perpetual sacrifice. This church represents the perpetual sacrifice of the Catholic Eucharist, control through the Jezebel spirit. It is a church of murder, cast into the tribulation. (It represents the Catholic and orthodox churches through to the tribulation.)
●Sardis: Meaning = Escaping. This church represents the reformation churches escaping Catholic domination, but it was an incomplete escape. The church is “dead.” (It represents the denominational, divided, Spirit-less church through to the tribulation.)
●Philadelphia: Meaning = Brotherly love. This church is highly praised, has a love for the word and for Israel and is promised an escape from the tribulation. (It represents the true, pure and powerful church, with a heart for Israel, ending in the rapture.)
●Laodicea: Meaning = People opinioned. This church is lukewarm, full of evil mixtures, it is spiritually blind, condemned and vomited out. (It represents all the modern churches, mixed with paganism, lukewarm to God’s word, full of self orientation and unrepentant.)
The phrase “Let him who has an ear hear what the Spirit says to the churches,” appears at the end of every one of these seven letters! The powerful meaning of this lies in the tragic implication that many do not have ears to hear the Spirit! This is perhaps the biggest reason why the church has become such a mess.
►Here are some of the main points I’ve simply lifted out of the seven letters to the churches and strung them together to paint the overall picture:
●Christians must test those who call themselves apostles and prophets. Believers must keep their love for our Lord alive and burning by the Spirit. When people lose their first love for our Lord many other things take the place in their lives.
●We must nurture a godly hatred for the doctrine and deeds of the Nicolaitans. This is the separation of the clergy above the laity, in dress, titles and structure, for the purpose of control.
●God commands repentance from evil works and sin or He will “remove your lamp stand.” The repentant and overcoming believer is promised great reward.
●Those of the synagogue of Satan (unsaved rabbinic Jews) are identified and condemned.
●Some believers “dwell where Satan’s throne is.” These believers placed a stumbling block before the Jews, but cursed themselves, as do all those today coming against Israel.
●God says, “I will kill your children with death” because of their abominations and their knowing of the “depths of Satan.”
●Some churches have the Jezebel spirit of manipulation and control within them right at the top. They do not repent and are cast into great tribulation. This is very common today.
●Some so-called believers have a “name to live but are stone dead”. They are Christians in name only.
●Many Christians are not prophetically watchful. Others are “ready to die” for not being watchful or repentant. Because they will not watch the Lord says, “I will come upon you as a thief and you won’t know what hour this will be.” There are only a few names in this church truly saved. How incredibly true is that?
●The true, on fire, Spirit-led church, loves the word and knows it. They have the “key of David,” which opens the door in compassion to the Jews. (Isaiah 22:21-22) They keep an open door for the Jews to come to salvation, instead of putting a “stumbling block” in front of them, like other churches.
●They keep God’s word – all of it, and are kept from the tribulation.
●Finally, those who are lukewarm, full of their own opinions and not God’s will be spewed out. These are they that gray out right and wrong and mix truth and error. They are commanded to repent but don’t.
Bear in mind that the above points are God’s viewpoint and opinion.
Do you know that God promises a special, blessing on those who read and hear these letters? (Revelation 1:3)
I tell you, the modern Western-orientated church today is in such trouble it has no idea. Many of them are about to be spat out! (Revelation 3:16)
I have said many times and say again, at the end of the day, few will be saved. That statement is derived from dozens of verses.
Conditions to hear God’s word:
The message of salvation is so simple a child or wayfaring man won’t go wrong in it. But that’s where the simplicity ends. Of course there is much that is simple and easy to understand, but for the diligent, and serious about the things of God, there are conditions to be met.
The conditions though, end in great reward, and immeasurable blessing.
Here are some beautiful verses, great and wonderful promises and powerful insights into this:
Proverbs 2:7-8 (Amp) “He hides away sound and godly wisdom and stores it for the righteous – those who are upright and in right standing with Him; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly and in integrity.”
Proverbs 3:32 “His secret counsel is with the upright.”
Psalm 24:3-4 “Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? It is he who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the Lord.”
Luke 8:18 “Take heed how you hear – for whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken away from him.”
2 Timothy 2:15 “Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved and tested by trial, a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analysing and accurately dividing, rightly handling and skilfully teaching the word of truth.”
Conditions to be deceived:
Job 9:4 “Who has hardened his heart against Him and prospered?”
Zechariah 7:12 “They made their hearts like flint, refusing to hear the law and the words which the Lord of hosts had sent by His Spirit through the former prophets. Thus great wrath came from the Lord of hosts.”
Proverbs 18:2 (Amp) “A self-confident fool has no delight in understanding (God’s truth or ways) but only in revealing his personal opinions and himself.”
Jeremiah 15:6 “You have forsaken Me says the Lord, ‘You have gone backward, therefore I will stretch out My hand against you and destroy you. I am weary of relenting.’”
Jeremiah 6:19 “Hear, O earth, behold, I will certainly bring calamity on this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not heeded My words.”
Jeremiah 8:8-9 “How can you say, ‘We are wise, and the law of the Lord is with us’? ‘Look, the false pen of the scribe certainly works falsehood. The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken. Behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord; so what wisdom do they have?’”
2 Chronicles 36:14-16 “All the leaders of the priests and the people transgressed more and more, according to the abominations of the nations, and defiled the house of the Lord which He had consecrated in Jerusalem. And the Lord God of their fathers sent warnings to them by His messengers...but they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against His people, till there was no remedy.”
What makes a good church?
Does your church teach you all about the Hebraic origins and character of the true church? The true body of Messiah was conceived and birthed through the line of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Israel > Yeshua and His body, the church.
Because a good church will be chosen and empowered by the Spirit of God it will always have a wonderful depth to it that draws you in and makes you want more of the things of God.
A good church will preach the full doctrine of Messiah – all of it. All the major doctrines of the church are revealed in two verses – Hebrews 6:1-2
A good church will be music to the ears of God, and its people.
A good church will always hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches. They will also hear the false spirits and avoid them!
They will of course be led by the Spirit. There will be an air of liberty and freedom around them. They will exhibit the fruits of the Spirit. They will be strong and defiant to the world, and its approaches and influences.
They will be separate and at war with the forces trying to acclimatise them and mix them in with dark deeds of the world.
They will know God’s will and way for Israel, Jerusalem, the Jews and stand with them. They will stand with our Lord, against the enemies of Israel.
What makes a bad church?
“Many of you are enemies of the cross of Messiah” –Paul. (Philippians 3:18) The cross is the “power of God”. If your church does not centre on and preach and teach on the cross of Calvary and personal cross-bearing, get out of it!
It is impossible to ignore the cross without great spiritual counterfeit forces coming in.
What is your church silent on? It is most telling!
Revelation 3:2-3 “Be watchful and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect (complete) before God. Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore, if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.”
There is only one way to stay safe, blessed, growing and moving forward with our Lord in these days and that’s to know your Bible well and its author personally. If you don’t you may be simply gullible now, but later on when the pressure is really on and demonic forces and powers of deception increase like they will, you are in grave danger...much more so than you can imagine.
Isaiah 33:6 “Wisdom and knowledge (of God’s word) will be the stability of your times and the strength of your salvation.”
In this day we are seeing many believers, and a fast growing, number who are having their faith rocked, shipwrecked and destroyed. Their salvation has no solid foundation and everything is starting to shake. Ministries are folding and collapsing, especially in the West.
Many believers will soon find out that their knowledge and experience of our Lord was totally insufficient.
►The west is in danger of losing its basic democratic human right of free speech, simply because it has believed in free speech of the devil, without limits.
Error, false teaching and believing soon become idols of the mind and just as dangerous as golden calves. Except these idols of the mind, instead of going to destruction come to life and bite your head off, if you’re not careful.
We must have a broken, repentant, humble and hungry heart before our Lord. We must have Spirit-led knowledge, understanding and wisdom of the ways of God. We must be spiritually equipped and discerning for warfare with spirits of wickedness in high places, demons, principalities and the invisible powers of Satan.
The world’s most tragic statements:
●“I will exalt myself.” – Satan. (Isaiah 14:13)
● “Has God said; you shall surely die?” – Satan to Eve. (Genesis 3:3-4)
● “Come down from that cross and save yourself.” – The masses. (Mark 15:30)
● “Not this Man (Yeshua), give us Barabbas.” – The masses. (John 18:40)
● “Let His blood be upon us and upon our children.” - Jewish masses. (Matthew 27:25)
● “We will not listen to the watchmen.” - The masses. (Jeremiah 6:17)
● “Do not prophecy right and correct things to us. Speak only smooth things and deceits.” - The masses. (Isaiah 30:10-11)
● “You (God) will not require an account.” – The masses. (Psalm 10:13)
● “I hated and rejected the instruction and reproof of God.” (Proverbs 5:12)
Humility before God and the fear of the Lord is safety. The finished work of the cross and shed blood is the only way to salvation. Taking up our own cross daily is the road to abundant life. Everything that has not gone through the cleansing work of the cross of Calvary is doomed.
Create your own personal retreat:
There is such great comfort, wonderful peace and security in retreating into a quite secret place of deep fellowship with our Lord.
You don’t need to go and live in a cave (although sometimes I’m tempted!) But you need to get out of the mainstream of life with all its niggling pressures. Of course, I’m not for one moment suggesting a humanistic, me-centred retreat. I am suggesting a totally God-centred, Bible-centred retreat. It does not have to be to a physical place.
Although, today, I’m not mobile, I used to go for weeks on end, alone into nearby deserts, forests, wilderness areas and places with little or no infrastructure, living like a mad bushman, often fasting, setting my heart to seek and know my Lord more intimately. These were some of the most valuable times of my life.
This was one of my “homes” in Botswana:
Do it whatever way you want and for however long you want but it is a valuable necessity to grow and strengthen yourself in these days.
Get into the habit of practising denial of self when the opportunities arise. The more you do these things, the more you want to and the greater the value becomes.
So what is the Spirit saying to the churches?
●He is saying that many, perhaps most, Christians don’t know His word. ●He is saying that most are unprepared and full of evil thoughts, desires and actions. ● He is saying that most need to repent now and change direction. ● He is saying that many will become vomit! – Now there’s a nice Sunday sermon! But it’s tragically truer than Jesus loves everything and everyone without account. ●He is saying that many within the so-called church will become the spiritually-charged enemies of the cross-bearing believers. ●The Spirit is saying that there are some doing excellently and will be greatly rewarded.
Just a thought:
If we go through the tribulation period, will your faith be rocked? Will you still stand strong in the Lord? I think many will not endure. I don’t believe we will go through the tribulation, but what if? Where is your faith? Here’s a bit of logic: Will you throw eternity away for seven years of hardship?
I think you can pretty safely rest in the fact that we not go through any part of the tribulation.
I took this picture at night, fixing the lily to a tripod. With the camera on another tripod, I opened the shutter for two minutes and “painted” the flower with the light of a little halogen hand-held torch, from above, below and behind.
Shalom and grow in His Grace!
